Roselyn Pascal is a mother of 4 children and a wife of the Rorya Diocese Administrative Secretary Rev. Paschal Maguttu who is on study leave at Uganda Christian University, Mukono.
Here is her story:
“Since my husband went to the bible school, I realised that I had to shoulder lots of responsibilities for my family. That is when CMS-Africa's trainings on wholistic transformation came to Rorya and I was indeed privileged to have been part of the initial women who went through the training. After training, I opened my tailoring business where I make vitenge dresses for women within Rorya area.
I had trained as a tailor much earlier but the women training helped me to make up my mind to start the business in 2016.
buy the vitenge materials and stock them at my tailoring Centre where my clients come to select their preferred colors and designs before I proceed to make for their dresses. As I engage in my day to day business, I have realized that I have more latitude that I didn't have before to engage with the people of God in Rorya.
I have thus sought to glorify God in my business by sharing the love of Christ with my clients, neighours and daily acquaintances at my work place. I also help some of those who open up to me with their life difficulties in my capacity as the wife of the man of God.
If I had more Capital which one of my prayer items I would stock more modern materials as well as expand my business to become a training Centre for many of our young girls who drop out school each and every year. The need for vocational training and skills development for my womenfolk in Rorya is one that cannot be downplayed in my Lou community in the Larger Mara region, Tanzania.
Upon starting my business, I adhered to some of key aspects learnt from the women training in 2015.
These include keeping records of my customers as well as tracking income and expenditure.
From some of the savings I have made from my business, I have initiated sheep raring as an investment/savings which I can revert to when things become difficult for my family.
