30 Women in Rwanda undergo WEP training
The training held at the Byumba Anglican Diocese, was part of the Women Empowerment Programme (WEP), a program aimed at providing women with the financial literacy necessary for entrepreneurial success.
The training was led by CMS-Africa’s Country Coordinator for Rwanda, Rev. Nkusi Josias, alongside local partner Ven. Dismas Ngendabanga.
By fostering economic self-sufficiency, these women are better positioned to contribute to their families' well-being and their communities' development. Women's economic empowerment is crucial for achieving gender equality and ensuring sustainable, inclusive economic growth.
According to the UN Women, investing in women and girls produces a powerful ripple effect, generating significant inter-generational benefits for individuals, families, communities, and nations.
Although Rwanda has emerged as a continental role model for its dedication to gender equity with the World Economic Forum’s 2022 Global Gender Gap Index ranking her in the top 10, continued and targeted efforts are still needed to address remaining disparities and support women's advancement.
Through this initiative, CMS-Africa is not only enhancing individual lives but also reinforcing broader social and economic structures, fostering a more equitable future for all, and empowering the women in Rwanda for Mission.
