The Turning Point: Discovering Financial Freedom through F4
My name is Venerable Lisper Kawira, a pastor serving in the Anglican Church of Kenya, Metunguu Parish in Meru Diocese.
In February 2025, I joined the Financial Freedom for Families (F4) program, which was introduced to us by CMS-Africa through the ACK, Meru Diocese.
I had little hope for the impact the programme was going to create in my life, as I had come across many such programmes that didn’t add any significant value in our lives as clergy.
Before undergoing the programme, I often believed I had no money, yet I didn’t know where my income went. Through a simple exercise of recording daily expenses, I discovered how much I was spending unnecessarily. This triggered me to start planning, budgeting, and saving intentionally.
One of the valuable lessons I picked up is that no one is born poor or rich; it all depends on how we manage what God gives us. We were therefore sensitised on record keeping, and I was shocked when I first began keeping records to see that I was spending more than I earned, and how bad a steward I was.
My handling of debt also changed. I used to struggle with borrowing, but I now understand that debt often results from a lack of knowledge. By applying what I learned in F4, I have been able to manage my finances better, avoid unnecessary debts, and live within my means.
I am truly grateful to CMS-Africa for this life-changing programme and for equipping us with tools for lasting transformation.
