Pastor with a Kindergarten in an Islamic Area - Ti…

Pastor Titus Michael has passion for children and this led him to start a school for the children in an Islamic area in Mlandizi. Mt Zion School which is to be found deep into Islamic villages within Mlandizi area is a Private Christian School at the hinterlands of Mlandizi serving Preprimary and Primary school needs in that area.

The Pastors original plan as a typical evangelist was to start bible school to train church leaders on wholistic ministry. But after going through SSA training, his vision was tilted towards a project that serves the community. That is how he ended up starting the school as a seed project in the middle of nowhere. The school has grown and expanded now serving over 50 children in the early childhood classes.

“When I wanted to start a see project in this community, I held meetings with parents and they are the ones who opened up the road to this school,” say Pastor Titus.

He has been reaching out to the parents encouraging them to seek alternative ways of making and earning a living considering that many are peasant farmer albeit with vast chunks of land
The desire to serve the Islamic families led him to consider opening a school in vantage place where all the children in the neighboring communities would end up bringing him their children/e has helped several families to start off some businesses to improve their own living standard.

For instance he has held forums with 30 families and engaged them on how to grow healthy families where he uses biblical teachings. The community has accepted him and refer to him as Pastor and are happy to seek his counsel due to how he is meeting their children’s education need.

Recently, Pastor Titus was called by the Government of Tanzania and given thumbs up for his work amongst Muslims even though he is a pastor.
The community surrounding the school has greatly appreciated the work done by the Pastor in their community. The Islamic Community has many kids and have hard times economically which makes it difficult ultimate for them to pay for their children to get better education.

President Jakaya Kikwete was in a missionary school but become the President of the Republic. of Tanzania. The community has greatly accepted Pastor Titus

One of the parents, Jaffar is the father to twins Fatuma and Jamal aged 8 years now in class 1
Jaffar says “The teaching model of the Mt Zion School is by far better than all surrounding schools. They children are well disciplined and have lots of respect for the parents and elders.”
The children from Mt Zion are outstandinmg in the community. “When the children get home, they do their homework before going to play with the rest of children in the community and this has made them more responsible and to like education,” says Jaffar.

Another Parent Zainab adds that all parents in the village would like to bring their children to Mt.Zion but sometime the issues of the finances limit them and distance from home to the school which is slightly located into the interior remains a challenge to them

“Those who have not brought their children to this school feel envious as their children do not compare to the children who have been mentored and taught at Mt Zion,” says the village elder Mr. Hamisi.
“My Prayer for the school is that it may grow to become a Primary and secondary school,” says Jaffar who adds that that is the prayer of many if not all the members of his community.

Prayer items

  •  Pray with Pastor Titus that his dream of transforming the Islamic community in Mlandizi shall come to pass.
  •  The cost of running the school per month is not less than 500 dollar. Pastor Titus is trusting God for provision so as to continue serving this community that God has called him unto.
  •  The natives have big families that exacts pressure on them and makes it hard for them to experience good life. Pray that the Lord will keep opening their eyes to practice transformational stewardship even as parents.
  •  Pray for Pastor Michael Titus to have an effective transport system as his children though young are drawn from afar off from the school. The issue of distance is a big problem to the children who if not picked to attend school, some fail to show up. And for those who are required to proceed to public primary schools which are located far away, many end up dropping out of school.
