Kibera Youth graduate from 3D training after 7 Mon…

CMS-Africa graduated 25 young men and women who successfully completed the 3D training in Kibera after 7 months of grueling devotion, studies and application of disciplines learnt in the course. The training that was initiated by Local Partner Rev. Jackson Wanga in partnership with the Centre for Urban Missions run from last year July to April 2019.

The Youth were taken through the various topic in the 3 modules of Discover, Develop and Deploy over a period of 7 months.

Local Partner and lead CMS-Africa trainer on holistic transformation Rev. Meshack Okumu observes that the training has been of great importance and impact to the youth. He is trusting God to replicate the same in other informal settlements in Nairobi to help young people experience a great transformation. Reading from Ecclesiastes Rev. Okumu challenged the youth to remember the Lord their God before it is too late.

Speaking when he officiated at the Graduation Ceremony, Can. Moses Bushendich shared a quote from Nelson Mandela, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

Can. Moses encouraged the grandaunts that everything in life seems impossible, until it is done. The 3D course for instance, when you began, it seemed impossible. But now it is done, and it’s not only about this training, it’s even about many aspects of our lives.

So go ahead now and start that business you have talked about starting and the company you have talked about building. All that it takes is some level of determination, we have talked about discovery. In the first place, if you haven’t discovered who you are, and the potential that is in you, you will remain ordinary, and you will be wondering, why are you on earth, and why were you created and why you were born, especially raised in Kibera.

But the day you discover who you are, the skills that God has put in you, the talents that you have, I tell you heaven and hell will break loose. The moment you discover who you are, you simply become unstoppable. Just remember one thing, pursue your vision. And sometimes and many times it seems impossible, until it is done. Tell every situation that appears impossible, that it will be done.

It is important that we as the youth think seriously about our lives as sooner than later. When we age, we become forgetful and it is better to remember your creator in the time of your youth, when you still have power, when you still have strength. This entails keeping the commandments of God, regardless of the challenges and the pleasures of life. The Preacher urges people to enjoy to the fullest and remember that the days of darkness will be many, and because of that, then we really need to put things right and your enjoyment should actually please God.

God should be in the picture of the kind of enjoyment that we have, so that we don’t regret The preacher is saying, there will come a time when we will die and those days are many, in fact the time that we will spend in eternity, would be much more than the time we spend on earth. And therefore we really need to make good use of the time we have. Our lives are like a vapor. The third exhortation now the preacher is turning to the youth and he is saying, enjoy them, but as you enjoy we need to remember our creator.

In closing as you look at Chapter 12, he is telling people that indeed worst times are coming and you have to remember your creator before that time actually comes. The last one I want to mention, in verse 6, he says remember Him before the silver code is actually broken. So before that time comes, the word says, we need to remember our creator. In the name of the father, son and the holy spirit, amen.

Am told if you go to a body of water like an ocean or the lake, and you scope a handful of water, like Lake Victoria, that amount of water in your hand represents the length of our lives, what you have left represents eternity. So that’s how short our lives are and that’s how long eternity is. But what you do with this small amount, determines how you experience of eternity would be. Thank you for those words of wisdom, that we are young once. But youth happens very fast, and I think that’s what we have been told.

The only challenge with youth is the choices you make, whether you make them right or wrong, they accompany you through life. So am glad that you made this step, taken this journey and this will help you make wise choices. Rev. Jackson Wanga on his part was very grateful to see his team graduate.

“This team was to graduate last year, but God had not planned it by then, and so today we are so grateful. Guys, kudos,” said Wanga. Rev. Wanga commented the youth for perseverance. He recalled how he started during the rainy season meeting the youth late evening as late as 10:00 pm But now we can see the fruits.

Rev. Wanga praised 3D programme and challenged you, not to stop at learning but seek to put what they have learnt into practice. “You can begin in one team to go through them and see what you can up with. You have been able to discover your talents, giftings, you have been able to develop them and we are hoping you are going to deploy them wherever the Lord is sending you. Henry Mwaniki, the CMS-Africa Training manager, remembered the sacrifices and commitment of the trainers and the participants and was glad that the youth withered over 7 years in training and are now graduating.

On his part, Rev Dr. Danson Kihwaga, the General Secretary of Church Army Africa said that Church Army reaches out to the people outside the church for, first of all conversion from sin and social transformation.

These two things remain very relevant to us and they are very significant to us. We are out to facilitate social other than to begin with spiritual transformation. Conversion from sin, and we are aggressive, participating in primary evangelism that is inviting people and calling them to Jesus that they may encounter transforming power of God. Which comes by listening to His word, faith comes by hearing and listening to the word of God. And for the word of God to be heard, there has to be a preacher.

So we prepare those preachers, we prepare the evangelists who go out to preach this formative word. But apart from spiritual transformation, the social transformation is also very significant to us. We are so much concerned on the other areas of an individual social aspect, and our mission strategy is healing Africa.

The word heal is an acro name; H stands for Health, E stands for Education, A stands for Advocacy and L stands for Leverage wealth creation. And we are quite aware again because have noted that at Church Army we have various departments and one of them is the center for urban mission.

We have Carrel College, where by we train evangelists and we also have a dental clinic, an academy and other facilities or other departments at Church Army Africa. But the department, which has made this day possible in conjunction with the CMS and we thank our partners, the members of staff from the urban mission center and am glad to witness this graduation.

Have been hearing about the 3Ds but am glad to interact with people who have participated. The reason as to why we are here is that you may also see the people who have gone through the training you are undergoing or you have undergone here. We have people who have taken this programme, and this programme has transformed their lives. We thank God because of the programme, which you have gone through. And through this programme the first objective of the 3D programme is to enable you to do discover your potential, your talents, and your area of giftings.

So one of the achievement of this programme is that it has enabled you to discover your potential. Then here as you undertake this training, such potential has been developed and to deploy you now formally so that you go and do.

When you attend the graduations, there are familiar words which are normally acorns. We give you powers to do; it is first of all to lead and also to do as it appertains to your certificate, or your degree. So we are here to give you power so that you can do what you have learnt and put it into practice. And one of the skills you have learnt, because the purpose of education is not only to inform or to translate those concepts, it is to provide life skills.

And one of the life skills, that you must have learnt from this programme, is the ability to make choices. Choices are very important; God has given us the ability to make our own decisions. You can choose whatever you desire to do in life, but you cannot choose the consequences.

Choices are very important, because they determine your habit or habits. What you do is determined by the choices you make, and you have already made a good choice to take this programme. You have also made a second choice, of to persist and continue.

You chose to join the programme and you have made another choice to continue up to the end. I congratulate you for making that choice, and also congratulate you for coming to the end of programme. Your habits are also very important because they will determine your character, and character is also very important because it determines your destiny. Choices translate to habits, habits translate to character, and character translates into destiny. So you have the ability to choose your destiny from this programme. The reason as to why you have undergone this programme is that you can be transformed holistically.
