JOB SUMMARY
The Program Officer will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of programs under Pillar 3 (Stewardship of Creation) within the 2025–2035 Strategy.
Working closely with Pillar Managers, the role will facilitate climate change advocacy, disaster risk reduction, and environmental resilience activities; supervise volunteer
environmental champions; and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, learning (MEL), and impact reporting. The Program Officer will ensure that biblical creation care
principles are embedded in all program interventions.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Program Delivery: Plan and execute field-level activities on climate change advocacy, disaster risk reduction, and environmental resilience; facilitate training
and awareness sessions using approved tools and materials. Community Engagement: Build capacity of church leaders and communities on
climate change mitigation, emergency response, and disaster preparedness; promote climate-smart technologies, clean energy use, and biodiversity
conservation. - Volunteer Management: Supervise, mentor, and support volunteer trainers and environmental champions; organize refresher trainings and capacity-building
sessions. - Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning: Collect activity data, community feedback,
and impact stories; support surveys, vulnerability assessments, and reporting
against strategic indicators. - Communications & Impact Reporting: Document success stories, case studies,
photos, and videos for newsletters, social media, and donor reports. - Learning Material Support: Contextualize and distribute learning resources on creation care and climate resilience; provide input on digital tools and innovations for program delivery.
- Risk, Ethics & Safeguarding: Uphold safeguarding, theological integrity, and inclusion principles in all community engagements; ensure compliance with donor requirements and responsible use of resources.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Community
Development, Theology, or a related field. - 5+ years’ experience in program coordination, training, facilitation, or community development; multi-country programming experience is an added advantage.
Experience in discipleship, evangelism, or Christian leadership programming is highly desirable. - Demonstrated ability to work in conflict-affected or resource-constrained environments.
- Strong understanding of gender justice, peacebuilding, and livelihood development approaches.
- Competence in digital tools, data collection apps, and multimedia storytelling is an asset.
- Strong Christian faith and alignment with a biblical worldview approach.
