Women in Mathare Capacity-Built on Entrepreneurship
The four-day training, held at the OCC Community Church, was designed to equip the women with the tools they need to break free from poverty and inequality, challenges many women in Kenya face.
Women across the world face significant disadvantages, including gender-based violence, unequal access to education, and economic exclusion. In Mathare, Kenya’s second-largest slum, these challenges are particularly amplified. Here, women often rank last in terms of financial independence and decision-making power within their families and communities.
CMS-Africa is implementing a Women Empowerment Programme (WeP) aimed at imparting practical skills to women across Africa, focusing on budgeting, marketing, and running small businesses. The training provides women with the knowledge needed to manage their finances, develop business ideas, increase their independence, and improve their walk with Christ.
While progress has been made, there is still much work to be done. CMS-Africa remains committed to empowering more women, and fostering lasting change across Africa, ensuring that they have the opportunities and resources to thrive.
