CMS-Africa Launches a Transformational Group in Hai Kusiti, South Sudan

CMS-Africa has launched a transformational group in Hai Kusiti, Wau, South Sudan, marking a new chapter in empowering women to achieve both economic and spiritual transformation.

The launch follows a Women Empowerment Programme (WeP) training facilitated by CMS-Africa’s Local Partner in Wau, Awadia Suleiman, and Country Coordinator, Pastor Joseph Noel. The initiative brought together 40 women from the Hai Kusiti community, equipping them with practical tools to build financial resilience, manage small businesses, and support their families sustainably.

The transformational group will help women drawn from different Christian denominations study the Bible, learn from one another, and save and lend to each other, enabling them to take charge of their own spiritual and economic future.

During the launch, local experts from Care International sensitised the women on financial and group management, helping them form a leadership committee to steer the day-to-day running of the group.
Recognising the need to build the group’s capacity beyond spiritual and financial matters, LP Awadia introduced weekly literacy and discipleship classes focusing on basic reading and writing skills, Bible study, peacebuilding, and personal development.

“It’s inspiring to see women experiencing holistic growth, and we trust that this group will be an agent of change here in Wau. They are discovering that transformation happens both in the heart and in the home,” said Joseph Noel.

The launch of the Hai Kusiti transformational group underscores CMS-Africa’s commitment to catalyse a growing mission movement of Christ’s disciples who are actively transforming families and communities across South Sudan.
