About Conflict Hub
The Conflict Hub Programme is a discipleship programme that equips local churches to become catalysts for holistic transformation in conflict-affected communities across Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu) and the Greater Bahr el Ghazal region of South Sudan. Anchored in CMS-Africa’s vision of Biblically renewed mindsets: Transforming nations for God through Evangelism and Discipleship, the programme exists to nurture Christ-centred disciples who promote peace, healing, reconciliation, and resilient communities.
The programme empowers churches and local leaders to multiply Abunas (transformational disciple-makers) who serve as trusted agents of change. Through intentional discipleship, they help individuals and communities recover from the effects of conflict, restore relationships, strengthen livelihoods, and live out the Gospel in practical ways.
The programme focuses on three integrated areas of intervention: Transformational Discipleship, Trauma Healing and Psychosocial Support, and Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment, supported by strong monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems.
Goal
To catalyse a growing mission movement of Christ’s disciples (“Abunas”) actively transforming families and communities across Ituri and North/South Kivu (DRC) and Greater Bahr el Ghazal (South Sudan)
Target Population
Conflict-affected women, men, youth and children, church leaders, grassroots discipleship groups, and vulnerable households living in communities marred by violence and displacement.

Expected Outcomes
1. Communities across both DRC and South Sudan experience measurable transformation through Christ-centered discipleship, discipleship-led intercommunity reconciliation, and peace movement growth
2. Churches in conflict-affected communities have increased capacity to provide trauma healing and psychosocial support, enabling individuals and families affected by conflict to experience healing, resilience, and restored relationships.
3. Households in both DRC and S. Sudan — especially women and youth — achieve improved, dignified, and sustainable livelihoods through savings groups, skills development, and discipleship.
Impact So far
- More than 2,000 disciples equipped through transformational discipleship, enabling them to become agents of change within their families, churches, and communities.
- Over 70 Transformational discipleship groups established and strengthened, providing safe spaces for spiritual growth, accountability, and community engagement.
- Church leaders and Abunas equipped to facilitate discipleship, mentor believers, and lead holistic community transformation.
- Trauma healing capacity strengthened among churches and local communities, enabling participants to address the emotional and psychological effects of conflict, displacement, and loss.
- Interfaith peacebuilding initiatives implemented, fostering dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence among communities affected by conflict.
- Locally led peacebuilding initiatives, i.e the Twic/Abyei peace initiative established and supported, empowering communities to take ownership of conflict prevention, reconciliation, and social cohesion.
